NEW HARMONY KORINE FILM.

I read that there was going to be a sneak peak of his new film "Mister Lonely" a couple of weeks ago. Then I heard him on Joe Escalante's show this morning. The plot of the movie sounds pretty cool to say the least. Something about a Michael Jackson impersonator living in Paris. Also the Sun City Girls will be doing the soundtrack! I will go see it of course. I always loved his films. I remember going to see Kids at the Nuart with my friend Dave. Then seeing Gummo. But I think out of all of them I like Julien Donkey Boy the best. Here's the poster for the new film. It opens May 2nd. Maybe they'll play it at the Krikorian in Pico???

AM FLOWER POWER!!

I went to a plant/flower nursery today. I woke up kinda groggy after a crushing live performance by Guppies at Pehrspace last night. Didnt really get too heavy with the drinks because I knew I was going to check out some lovely flowers today. H&H nursery is in Lakewood and its a pretty cool place. We got there around 10am or so and it was overcast and chilly. I took some photos of the gorgeous annuals and perennial's that were on sale. It was nice to see so many beautiful things in one place. unlike say the Montebello Town Center......(I keed, I keed).

PET SOUNDZZZ.....

So this past Sunday we took a trip to the LA Zoo. It was my first time in many years. I really have no memory of the place so it was pretty much my first time. Hot as hell that day too! Here are some pics to show you the caged heat!

I thought I would feel bad for all the animals but it seemed they were being kept well and there werent any morons throwing shit at the beasts. Although I wanted to fling something at the bears that were of course sleeping. All I could see was a cute fuzzy paw with soft looking pads. We went the wrong way and happened to miss the lions. I wanted to recreate the scene where Mr. Furly is mocking the lions. I did see the flamingos,I could have done Terry's bit I guess.

BECAUSE WEEKENDS WERE MADE FOR FUN...

Hello from Giant Pink Cloud! Yes it's Friday and I have a show tonight at Echo Curio in....you guessed it, Echo Park! We go on at 9:30. That gives me time to go get some tasty carnitas from Zamora's on ceasar chavez. If you haven't been there GO! The place is fucking awesome for carnitas. I remember the first time going i saw this sewn together heart stuffed with God knows what just sitting, waiting for its foster owner to take home and devour. I've learned later that its like a type of blood sausage??? And I will warn you, when yr up front paying dont look in the back. Porky is getting skinned right before yr baby browns. Sad but tasty! I'm going to make some tortilla chips and get some gucamole as well. A nice dinner for the cappuccino and I. We are playing a brand new song tonight called "dress form". I wrote it over the vacation and I think it's ready for the punters. I'll write a report about how the night came out. Until then, blood sausage for the win!!

I HAVE LOVE FOR THIS MAN!!

Lately I've been so in love with my Deluxe Memory Man. My DMM came from the Sam Ash in City of Industry. I dragged D in there one night about a year and a half ago and I saw it in the case for 125! It was a used unit and at that time they were going for crazy nutz monies on Ebay. I told the dolt behind the counter I wanted it and brought it home! I noticed though that there was some distortion on the repeats. Also, I found out that it wasnt at its full 550ms. I didnt feel to bad about getting it fixed up because i got it so cheap(130 out the door!). I had known about Howard Davis. He designed for EHX and has a website with info on repairs, mods etc. I contacted him and I told him what was wrong. He quoted a price and badda bing-badda boom my DMM was headed back to New York(they're made there ya'know). So on its return everything was taken care of. No distortion on the repeats, the delay time was bumped up to 600ms and now its a huge part of my/MOSPEADA'S sound. I posted some clips of it in action. If you go back to some old posts on here there is a live clip of MOSPEADA with the DMM in heavy use. Enjoy the echoes!!

CASSETTES.....(sorry, drunk geek post)

So I was e-talking with some forum friends and the subject of old computers came up. The word Tandy made me think of how much info and storage/faith we put into these plastic holders of ideas. Whatever format it was being 8 track, 90/60 minute or reel to reel the beauty, and art that is placed will never go away! This is 2008. We are on the brink of robots and the apocalypse and still the last song i wrote and recorded was on simple, beautiful cassette. Forever analog!!!

JUST GOT BACK TO NORMAL

So from last Saturday till just yesterday its been a real task getting rest, and getting back into the swing of things. Monday I started back at work after the spring break. Darlene's party was just a crazy nuts night of music, booze, insane guests and VERY good food! Thanks so much to the people in attendance. It did'nt stop there though. Sunday we arose from the drunken night and got ready to go hang with the Guppies at their recording session. We got to Piry's and Zandra's and the guys were listening to a play back. I knew the drinking was going to continue so i succumbed to the brews in the fridge. We had a blast, and the Guppies sounded great. I'm glad I was able to bond with Eric, their bass player about Pere Ubu and The Breeders. The day ended with Thai food and not one game of Girl Jenga(thank Gawwwd!). It is Thursday and Im ready for a MOSPEADA show this Saturday at the Old Town Pub. Im going to a bbq/video shoot for The Hectors that same day so its going to be another one of those weekends. Thank Gawwwd!!!
